I did this picture entirely from my memory of many quiet early mornings looking out over the sea in the Peloponnese to the Mani on the other side of the bay. The sea sparkles, the small waves lap gently on the pebbles of the beach, the birds chatter and there is nothing on the expanse of blue but a small fishing boat. I did not look at photos or sketches so as not to be distracted by detail but remember and record the sense of the stillness and peace. I did not keep the picture long. I showed it soon after I finished it in October 2016 at my Open Studio event where it was bought.
